Valentine’s Day is coming up quick! I love making my own decorations and I especially love when I can use my computer to help me do it! This was such a fun project to do and what is nice about this FREE printable is you can use it for multiple things. You can add it to a card or your scrapbook page or you can paint it on wood! Watch below for the link to download the PNG files for the printable.
To turn this into my wood project, I started by cutting the squares from 1×4’s into 4 inch squares. I sanded the edges and then painted them with a base coat of paint.
Next, I prepared my 3 png files to fit on a 4×4 canvas and moved them all to one 8.5×11 canvas and printed it off. To be able to paint my digital art onto the wood, I turned it over and colored chalk all over the back. Then I placed it right side up on my wood and traced around it with a pen. Between the chalk and a little bit of the denting of the wood, I was able to then fill in with paint.
Once my paint was dry, I cut enough ribbon (two coordinating pieces). I also tied a big bow for the top and tied the strips to the bow with thin red ribbon and added the thin red bow to the top as well. Then I used hot glue to stick the wood pieces to the ribbon and let it dry!
In about an hours worth of time and the cost of less than $5.00, I made this fun wood project!
Here are the 3 png files on a 1 page 8.5×11 that you can print on regular paper. The file also includes cutting files in SVG and DXF format if you want to cut them out with your machine. If using for my method, cut them out leaving a little space around each set. You can download from the Resource Library under “Digital Crafts”.
