Another week of 2017 has come and gone.
I’m finding it harder to scrap these each week. Not because I don’t love the pages when they are done or that once I get started, it really goes quite quick, but rather because these are weeks when not a lot of exciting things happen. Or at least it feels that way when I reach the end of the week and think about scrapping. But then I finish the pages, after gathering photos and thinking about specific events and I realize that EVERY week is important. Each day gives me time with my children, time to learn and grow new lessons in life and the opportunity to change and become who I am supposed to become.
It is easy to get caught up in all the busyness of life. Distractions are everywhere. But taking an hour to sit down and scrap about an event or even a fairly run of the mill week, gives us the unique opportunity to relive and appreciate the little moments.
Yes, I know there are easier ways to keep track. In this day and age, there are so many options that only require us to upload photos to Instagram and then create mini books from there. And those are great options! But I will still say that for me, this time to sit and scrap and gather photos and write what I remember is far more precious than even the pages I have at the end of it.
As I started this experiment at the beginning of the year, and gave myself the accountability each week to post here, what I thought I would gain was a completed album at the end of the year to appreciate and enjoy for years to come. Yes, I will have that. But what I was not expecting was the appreciation for each day and each week and all the little moments that I’m finding as I sit and document them on a weekly basis.
I would encourage you, as soon as you finish reading this, to try this. Either sit down and scrap a layout of a recent time or sit and write out what you remember from the past week. You’ll be amazed at how much comes back to you and how much you find yourself feeling grateful for the really small things.
So, now, after that, here are my two pages for last week:
And last of all, here is today’s daily download:
