I’m not going to lie, this past week was a tough one for me.
I don’t want to blame the weather, because I love winter. I love cloudy days and snow which we had all of this week. But whatever the cause, I felt blah all week long. I was tired and sluggish and quite depressed all week. I hate feeling this way, and I hate admitting that I felt this way, even more.
I am a believer in positive thinking and sometimes, I think I allow myself to believe that if I can’t be positive enough to overcome any anxiety or depression I’m feeling, than I must be doing something wrong.
So, my thought for today is how do you keep your sparkle?
A definition for Sparkle that I found in Webster’s Dictionary is:
c : to perform brilliantly
Is it possible that sometimes the pressure we feel to perform or do for everyone around us, can sometimes get us down? Do you find that no matter how great your intentions are, it is just impossible to always be brilliant? Or ever be brilliant? Is it just me that gets overwhelmed sometimes in trying to be good enough, let alone brilliant?
Perhaps a better definition is the first one listed in the dictionary, which is:
a : to throw out sparks
If sparks are light, then maybe rather than feeling the pressure to always perform or always be brilliant, we just try to throw out light here and there and be happy with our efforts.
And once we allow ourselves some breathing room, lower the expectations of ourselves, then what can we do to keep the light going inside?
What helps you feel good and sparkly inside?
I want to create a list (maybe even put it in my new planner) of things that help me feel good about myself or brings me joy. That way, when those weeks hit (and they always do) that seem so hard to drudge through, I can seek out that light and fill up my own sparkle!
